Dr. Paul Charpentier

Biography

Paul Charpentier is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University in 1998, an M.Sc. in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Waterloo in 1993, and an H.B.Sc. in Chemistry from York University in 1991. His research focuses on developing new green nanotechnologies and environmentally-friendly alternative energy applications. He leads efforts in synthesizing novel nanomaterials and nanomedicines using green enabling solvents such as supercritical carbon dioxide and ionic liquids. His work includes producing new materials through polymer synthesis and self-assembly, with applications in solar devices, self-cleaning coatings, and biomedical fields. Charpentier is also a member of the International Composites Research Centre (ICRC) and is involved in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program at Western University.
