Biography

Paul Cheng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, as well as a member of the Cardiovascular Research Institute. He specializes in cardiac development and has conducted extensive research on the extracellular morphogenic signals affecting cardiac progenitors. Dr. Cheng obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has completed residency in internal medicine and fellowship training in cardiology at Stanford. Dr. Cheng has pioneered the application of single-cell transcriptomic and epigenetic techniques in his studies. His lab utilizes a patient-to-bench-to-bedside approach in investigating cardiovascular diseases, combining human genetics with in vitro and in vivo modeling to explore new pathogenic mechanisms.
