Dr. Paul Davies

Biography

Paul Davies is a Senior Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College and was previously the Allen & Overy Professor of Corporate Law from 2009 to 2014. He received his undergraduate and master's degrees from the Universities of Oxford and London, respectively, and holds an LLM from Yale University. In 2000, he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy, and in 2006 he was made an honorary Queen's Counsel, followed by being an honorary Bencher of Gray's Inn in 2007. He served as the deputy chairman of the Central Arbitration Committee from 2001 to 2015. His academic career includes teaching as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Warwick from 1969 to 1973 and having various positions at Balliol College, Oxford. He was a CUF Lecturer, Reader, and Professor in the Faculty from 1998 to 2009. Before that, he held the position of Cassel Professor of Commercial Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research interests focus on corporate governance, corporate finance, regulation of securities markets, regulation of banks, and collective representation of employees.
