Dr. Paul De Souza

Biography

Paul De Souza is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New South Wales, specializing in translational cancer research. He is particularly interested in pharmacological principles that address the challenges of drug development, often referred to as the 'Valley of Death'. His work focuses on translating preclinical findings into early-phase clinical trials and discovering novel biomarkers, particularly through liquid biopsy, to predict treatment responses and resistance. His research spans individual cancers, with a keen interest in genitourinary cancers, especially prostate cancer, and brain tumors. Paul has broad research interests that include cancer, clinical research, cell biology, gene regulation, lipids, and pharmacology. He holds degrees in BScMed, MB BS, MPH, and a PhD from the University of New South Wales. He is a member of several professional societies including ASCO, AACR, MOG, and COSA, reflecting his active engagement in the cancer research community.
