Biography

Paul Dibb is an Emeritus Professor of strategic studies at the Strategic Defence Studies Centre, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific. He served as Head of the Centre from 1991 to 2004. His previous positions include Deputy Secretary of Strategy and Intelligence at the Department of Defence, Director of the Defence Intelligence Organisation, and Head of the National Assessments Staff at the National Intelligence Committee. He has authored five books, four government reports, and over 150 academic articles and monographs focusing on security in the Asia-Pacific region and Australia's defence policy. Notably, he was the primary author of the 1986 Review of Australia’s Defence Capabilities (the Dibb Report) and the 1987 Defence White Paper. Dibb's work has significantly influenced Australia's strategic landscape and defense policies.
