Professor Dr. Paul Edwards

Biography

Paul Edwards is Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan in the School of Information and has also served as Professor Emeritus of History in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. His academic work primarily focuses on the intersection of history, politics, and culture with information technology and information infrastructures. Over the years, he has developed a keen interest in climate science, climate data, and climate models while also exploring the historical context of computers. Edwards received his BA from Wesleyan University in 1980 and later pursued his PhD at the University of California, Santa Cruz, which he completed in 1988. He has contributed significant research to the field and has taken roles that include advising potential PhD candidates, demonstrating his commitment to fostering new generations of scholars in information science and history.
