Biography

Paul Ekins holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of London and is a Professor of Resources and Environmental Policy at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources, University College London. He served as the Co-Director of the UK Energy Research Centre from 2004 to 2014 and was the Deputy Director leading the Energy Resources theme, contributing significantly through research on low-carbon futures and fossil fuels. He was also the Chairman of the Government-funded National Industrial Symbiosis Programme, improving resource productivity in the UK. Ekins has been involved with numerous advisory boards and panels, including the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee and the UK’s Sustainable Energy Policy Advisory Board. His consultancy experience spans over a decade with various business and international organizations. Additionally, he has held leadership roles in several significant environmental initiatives, such as the Global Environment Outlook and the European Commission's High-Level Panel on Decarbonisation Pathways. He's a co-author of critical reports on resource efficiency and climate policy.
