Dr. Paul Fairfield

Biography

Paul Fairfield is a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Queen's University. He specializes in Continental Philosophy, with research interests that include philosophical hermeneutics, phenomenology, and pragmatism. Influenced by notable thinkers such as Nietzsche, Dewey, Gadamer, and Ricoeur, his current projects include a book tentatively titled 'Void: Existential-Political Analysis.' Fairfield has published a number of monographs and edited volumes, including 'Historical Imagination: Hermeneutics Cultural Narrative' and 'Philosophical Hermeneutics Reinterpreted.' His work often explores themes of historical change and the intersections of power, ethics, and social criticism within the philosophical tradition. In addition to his academic endeavors, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and is engaged in personal fitness activities. As an eleventh-generation Canadian and practicing Roman Catholic, Fairfield brings a unique perspective to his academic work.
