Dr. Paul Formosa

Biography

Professor Paul Formosa is the Research Training Director in the School of Humanities at Macquarie University. He specializes in Moral and Political Philosophy, and has previously served as the Head of the Department of Philosophy, and co-Director of the Macquarie University Ethics Agency Research Centre. Paul has published extensively on various topics including Kantian ethics, moral evil, moral psychology, human dignity and autonomy, and the ethics of technology with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence and video games. He has produced over 100 research outputs and has been cited approximately 2000 times. Paul actively supervises postgraduate students in areas related to moral and political philosophy and philosophy of technology. He has taught various units across his field including Theories of Justice, Foundations of Research Ethics, and Philosophy, Morality and Society. Paul is involved in several ongoing research projects and collaborations, focusing on the ethical implications of technology and generative AI within the creative industries.
