Biography

Paul Frankland is a Professor and Senior Scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children, affiliated with the Department of Psychology, Department of Physiology, and the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto. He holds the Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Neurobiology and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. His research mainly focuses on behavioral neuroscience, particularly on cognitive function and dysfunction in mice. His lab investigates systems consolidation, the role of adult neurogenesis in hippocampal memory functions, the processes involved in forgetting, and the identification and manipulation of memory engrams. He is also involved in the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) program on Child Brain Development. Through these research efforts, he aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying memory and cognitive processing.
