Biography

Paul Friedland is a historian specializing in the Revolutionary period in France and is broadly interested in European culture and politics during the long 18th century. His research explores the interplay of ideas and culture between the metropole and the Caribbean colonies. Friedland is also working on a forthcoming book about the radical revolution in the eastern Caribbean and has taught a range of courses, including those on the French Revolution and modern political thought, with particular emphasis on the works of Michel Foucault.
