Biography

Paul Greenwood is an environmental organic geochemist who specializes in the molecular distributions and compound-specific stable isotopic values of organic matter in geological sediments, soils, and water. He received his PhD from the University of New South Wales in 1993, where he focused on coal characterization and generation of fullerenes using laser mass spectrometry. Paul has held research positions at prominent institutions like CSIRO Petroleum, Pennsylvania State University in the USA, and Warwick University in the UK. He joined the University of Western Australia in 2006 and has since continued his research and teaching activities in the School of Earth Sciences. In his role, he has turned to teaching courses in organic geochemistry and has been an Associate Editor for the Elsevier journal Organic Geochemistry since 2017. He has a broad range of research interests including petroleum geochemistry and forensic analysis, and he remains committed to advancing techniques for compound-specific sulfur isotope analysis. Paul's work contributes to various UN Sustainable Development Goals and demonstrates his expertise in biogeochemistry and fingerprinting in organic analytical methods.
