Biography

Paul Hoffman is a Reader in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh. He completed his PhD in Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Manchester in 2008 and subsequently worked as a post-doc at both Manchester and briefly at Stanford University. In 2014, he joined the University of Edinburgh as a research fellow at the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology, before being appointed as a lecturer and then Reader in Psychology in 2018. He serves as the meetings secretary for the British Neuropsychological Society and is currently an associate editor for the journal Brain & Language. Hoffman's research focuses on semantic cognition, investigating how concepts and knowledge are stored and accessed in a flexible manner. His work employs various techniques including functional neuroimaging, computational linguistic analyses, and neuropsychological investigations.
