Dr. Paul Horowitz

Biography

Paul Horowitz is a Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering, Emeritus at Harvard University. He is known for his contributions to the intersection of physics and electrical engineering, particularly in the area of electronic instrument design. Horowitz has devoted significant effort to the completion of the third edition of 'The Art of Electronics', a comprehensive text co-authored with Winfield Hill, which has seen remarkable sales success. His research focuses on advanced topics in electronics, specifically in the development of microwave and optical systems for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). His group collaborates with colleagues from the University of California, San Diego, and the University of California, Berkeley, working on innovative technologies such as silicon photomultipliers and extensive optical arrays for astronomical studies. Horowitz continues to be actively involved in technical aspects related to national security and has a history of engagement with intellectual property litigation.
