Biography

Dr. Paul Jensen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia. Dr. Jensen completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Biology Department at Boston College. Dr. Jensen is also interested in addressing educational barriers in careers related to artificial intelligence and serves as a co-founder and scientific advisor for Cerillo, LLC, which develops laboratory instrumentation for biological researchers. His research interests include Bayesian optimization and deep reinforcement learning in artificial intelligence, automated science involving robotic systems for autonomous experiments, understanding the bacterial communities impacting oral health, and pathways in engineering education to improve career quality in artificial intelligence.
