Biography

Paul is a Principal Teaching Fellow and Director of Online Programmes at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. He is currently responsible for developing and managing the online education provision in the School. Paul has taught extensively across a broad range of subjects in the fields of Fashion Management, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Business, Buying & Merchandising, and Supply Chain Strategic Issues. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he holds a university award for excellence in teaching. With 16 years of experience in Buying & Merchandising, Paul has worked with high street and international retailers and provided consultancy to emerging niche brands to help them transition into national players. He was responsible for introducing international brands to leading department stores and developing his own brand label collections in Menswear. As a Senior Buyer, Paul managed large product categories with annual turnovers in excess of £100 million and has extensive travel experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturers in China, mainland Europe, and the UK to develop new product ranges. His research interests centre around understanding the role of experiential retailing and its impact on reshaping the emerging physical retail landscape. In addition, Paul works as a Retail Consultant, assisting businesses and brands in developing successful retail strategies.
