Dr. Paul Newton

Biography

Paul Newton is an adjunct professor at Boston University School of Public Health, focusing on global health. He holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford. Newton has extensive experience in the medical field, particularly in infectious diseases, and serves as the director of the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot-Wellcome Trust Research Unit and the Microbiology Laboratory at Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane, Laos. He has dedicated his career to researching the epidemiology of substandard medical products and the management of diverse fevers, including rickettsial infections in rural Asia. His previous roles have included professorship at the University of Oxford and Mahidol University in Bangkok. He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including notable fellowships from the Royal Society and the British Council. Newton is also an honorary professor at both the National University of Laos and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His extensive body of work contributes significantly to advancements in tropical medicine and quality in health care.
