Biography

Paul Nissler has a rich academic background, having completed his undergraduate studies and doctoral work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Pennsylvania State University, respectively. He has spent significant time researching and engaging with the German-speaking world, which has greatly influenced his teaching methods and approaches. Since joining Stanford as a Lecturer in Fall 2005, Paul has been instrumental in teaching both Spanish and German, as well as serving as the German Language Coordinator since 2009. Additionally, he completed his ACTFL OPI training in both languages, becoming a certified oral and written proficiency tester for German. Paul has actively contributed to the local Bay Area German community, previously holding positions such as AATG Testing Chair and President of the Northern California Chapter of AATG. His dedication to teaching and language learning is evident through his numerous publications and presentations at academic conferences across the nation and internationally.
