Biography

Paul North teaches tradition critical theory, emphasizing Jewish thought and emancipatory strains in history philosophy and European literatures. He has written books on the concept of distraction, Franz Kafka, and the likeness in culture thought. He is currently co-editing an edition of Marx’s Capital Volume 1 for a new translation that will appear with Princeton University Press in 2024, and is writing a monograph entitled “The Standpoint of Marx’s Capital.” North co-edits the book series IDIOM: thinkingwritingtheory published by Fordham University Press and co-directs an international exchange program on Critical Theory in the Global South, collaborating with faculty from Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación in Santiago, Chile.
