Dr. Paul Quirk

Biography

Paul J. Quirk is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of British Columbia, where he holds the Phil Lind Chair in U.S. Politics and Representation. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1978 and has since taught at various U.S. universities, including the University of Illinois, and served as a research associate at the Brookings Institution. Professor Quirk's scholarly work encompasses a wide array of topics in American politics, including Congress, the presidency, public opinion, regulatory politics, and public policymaking. His research has been published in prominent journals such as the American Political Science Review and the Journal of Politics. He has authored several books including Industry Influence on Federal Regulatory Agencies and Deliberative Choices: Debating Public Policy in Congress. Quirk is also actively involved in the U.S. Studies Program at UBC and currently chairs the U.S. politics area committee within the graduate program. He has received numerous accolades, such as the Louis Brownlow Book Award and the Aaron Wildavsky Enduring Achievement Award from the American Political Science Association.
