Biography

Associate Professor Paul Roberts is the Deputy Director of the Western Australian Centre for Road Safety Research located within the School of Psychological Science. He has over 25 years of experience in academia, including more than 15 years focusing on road safety. Paul earned his PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Western Australia, where he conducted fundamental work on implicit learning and false memories, including studying individual differences in susceptibility to false memories. His research interests in road safety include driver fatigue, distraction, and error. He advises organizations and resource companies about fatigue management both in Australia and overseas. Additionally, Paul is a joint organizer of the International Conference on Fatigue Management in Transport, alongside Professor Lynn Meuleners, and is recognized as a national expert on the effects of digital billboards on driver distraction. He has conducted research and consulting projects assessing the safety impacts of these digital displays.
