Biography

Paul D. Ronney is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology, and a Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining USC, he held postdoctoral appointments at NASA Glenn Research Center and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, and was an Assistant Professor at Princeton University. As a Payload Specialist Astronaut, he participated in Space Shuttle missions STS-83 and STS-94. Professor Ronney's research focuses on small-scale combustion, turbulent combustion, flame ignition, micro-scale combustion, and bioengineering, among other topics. He has published over 80 technical papers, holds 7 U.S. patents, and has received significant funding for his research endeavors. His accolades include Fellow status in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Combustion Institute, and he has been recognized with various awards for his contributions to engineering education and research.
