Biography

Paul D. Ronney is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a Master of Science in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology, and a Doctor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has held numerous postdoctoral appointments, including at NASA Lewis Research Center and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, and previously served as Assistant Professor at Princeton University. Professor Ronney has extensive research experience in small-scale combustion, bioengineering, and low-gravity phenomena, among others. He has published over 80 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals and made 250 technical presentations, including 35 invited talks at international conferences. His contributions to the field have garnered him multiple awards and recognitions, including Fellow status in several prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Combustion Institute. He has also received the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award and the Engineer’s Council Distinguished Engineering Educator Achievement Award.
