Dr. Paul Rosenbloom

Biography

Paul S. Rosenbloom is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC). He served as the Director of the Cognitive Architecture Research at USC's Institute for Creative Technologies and was the Deputy Director at USC's Information Sciences Institute (ISI) for two decades. Prior to his tenure at USC, he held positions at Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests include cognitive architecture, machine learning, and intelligent agents, notably in applications like automated pilots and virtual humans. He has contributed to the field through significant projects such as the Soar Project, which explores cognitive architecture models to support general intelligence. He has received numerous accolades including being a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His work also involves the development of Sigma, a unified cognitive architecture that integrates graphical models for learning and reasoning. Rosenbloom has authored multiple publications and has received several awards throughout his career, including the Kurzweil Award for his contribution to artificial general intelligence.
