Biography

Paul Salvador is a Professor and Director of Energy Science, Technology, and Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and completed his Ph.D. in the same field at Northwestern University in 1997. Salvador's research has focused on materials heterostructures, advanced energy applications, data storage, and communications technologies, specifically in the development of new materials using thin film methods. He began his academic career in 1999 as an assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon, was promoted to associate professor in 2004, and became a full professor in 2008. He has also served as an invited professor at Université de Caen Basse-Normandie. His work has been recognized with grants from the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation, which supports early-stage clean energy research.
