Biography

Paul Schoukens is a professor of social security law, including comparative, international, and European law at KU Leuven. He serves as the vice-dean for internationalization, and has been the secretary-general of the European Institute of Social Security since 2013, which is a multidisciplinary network of social security experts. At KU Leuven, he is involved in the European section of the Institute of Social Law, operating under the Research Unit European Social Security (RUESS). Schoukens has held several academic responsibilities, most notably as the university supervisor for student and staff mobility from 2013. He organizes the Master (manama) in European Social Security and is the program director of the Summer School in Social Security. His research at Tilburg University, which he joined on March 1, 2015, focuses on the implications of new migration forms for social security, aiming to reassess European and international minimum standards in social security.
