Paul Skoufranis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University. He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at UCLA under the supervision of Dimitri Shlyakhtenko in June 2014. His research interests lie in the realm of functional analysis, particularly in operator algebras. Skoufranis has focused on areas like free probability and operator theory, aiming to broaden his research to various parts of functional analysis. His recent work involves studying extensions of free probability known as bi-free probability, where he explores the complexities arising from the distinctions between freeness and bi-freeness. He has engaged in projects related to majorization of self-adjoint operators, contributing significantly to the understanding of convex hulls and unitary orbits in the context of Schur-Horn theorems and C*-algebras. Prior to his current position, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University from July 2014 to June 2016. Since joining York University in July 2016, he has been dedicated to both research and teaching.
