Dr. Paul Stavrinou

Biography

Paul Stavrinou is a Professor at the University of Oxford and a Fellow at Lincoln College specializing in photonics. He initially trained as a communications engineer with Marconi Instruments and completed his BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering at the Polytechnic of South Bank, where he received the IEE Prize. His PhD research was conducted at University College London with a Collaborative Award from the Royal Society's Research Excellence program. He has held postdoctoral positions at University College London, the University of Oxford, and Imperial College London. At Oxford, he is a Reader in Physics and serves as the Director of the Plastic Electronics Centre Doctoral Training (PE-CDT) and co-Director of the Centre for Plastic Electronics (CPE). Previously, he was an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow at Imperial College, focusing on metallic nanoscale photonics, contributing to a team that was awarded the Imperial College Research Excellence Award. Notably, in 2011, the PE-CDT received the Leadership Education Award from the US-based FlexTech Alliance. He has also served as a visiting Professor at the Department of Physics at the University of Montreal and is a co-investigator at the newly established Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR) in Suzhou, China.
