Nuclear Spectroscopy Specialist Paul Taras is an outstanding physicist who has worked for 44 years at the Université de Montréal. He received his doctorate in nuclear physics in 1965 at the age of 23. Initially, he dedicated the early part of his career to studying nuclear molecules; however, in 1989, he redirected his activities towards particle physics, joining the Hélios Collaboration research group, then to Opal and the Superconducting Super Collider (SDC). In 1994, he became involved in the BaBar experiment in California. His team is widely recognized, notably for establishing the measurement of a matrix element of the CKM on particles. Throughout his career, Paul Taras has authored 714 articles, delivered 180 presentations at conferences, and given 50 invited talks, supervising around fifty graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
