Biography

Dr. Paul J. Veugelers began his academic career in 1998, focusing on the study of health behaviors in Canadian children and their impact on chronic diseases. Over the years, his research portfolio has broadened to include social determinants of health and school programs and policies, particularly the Comprehensive School Health (CSH) approach. In 2007, he initiated the APPLE Schools program, which targets socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods and communities. His research has led to recognition through more than 250 peer-reviewed publications, as well as the successful acquisition of over 80 grants and contracts, securing a total of $27 million as principal investigator. Throughout his 27-year career, he has received various awards that support his work in public health education and research.
