Biography

Dr. Paul Villeneuve holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto. He has served as a Research Scientist at Health Canada where he studied environmental and occupational health topics, primarily field air pollution. His research lab focuses on Occupational Environment Epidemiology, examining health impacts related to occupational and environmental exposures, with particular emphasis on cancer and risk factors associated with depression, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Villeneuve’s current projects investigate the health effects of exposure to wildfire smoke, occupational radiation, and diesel crystalline silica, as well as urban built environment features such as access to green spaces, air pollution, noise, and walkability. He is knowledgeable in conducting record linkage studies utilizing health administrative data. Dr. Villeneuve is also involved in supervising graduate and undergraduate students, although he is on sabbatical for the 2026/27 academic year and will not be accepting new students during this time.
