Biography

Paul Weller is a distinguished academic originally from the UK, known for his contributions to inter-religious dialogue and pluralism within the evolving religious landscape of the United Kingdom. He obtained his BA in Theology from Regent’s Park College, Oxford, followed by an MA from Oxford University, an MPhil in Social Pastoral Theology from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Leeds. He has held significant roles at various institutions, including Emeritus Professor at the University of Derby, where he also served as Director of the Religious Resource Research Centre and Head of the Religious Studies department. His research spans topics related to the intersection of religion, race, and culture, alongside issues concerning religious representation and human rights in public life. Weller has also been involved in significant projects and has held multiple external advisory positions related to faith and community within the UK government. His expertise includes Baptist theology, inter-religious relations, and the teachings of the Turkish scholar Fethullah Gülen.
