Dr. Paul Werstine

Biography

Paul Werstine is a Professor in the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University. He received his PhD from the University of South Carolina in 1976, and holds an MA from the University of Western Ontario obtained in 1971, and a BA (Hons.) from King's University of Western Ontario awarded in 1970. His research primarily focuses on British literature and culture from the fourteenth to the seventeenth centuries, with a particular interest in drama from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, especially the works of Shakespeare. Werstine actively contributes to the editing and dissemination of Shakespeare's texts, aiming to make them accessible and enjoyable to contemporary audiences. He is also engaged in uncovering previously unknown manuscripts of Shakespeare's works that were printed. His academic endeavors position him as an expert in the field of Shakespeare studies and early modern literature.
