Dr. Paula Braitstein

Biography

Paula K.A. Braitstein is an esteemed Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, specializing in epidemiology and global health. She holds a PhD in Health Care Epidemiology from the University of British Columbia. Her research interests primarily focus on the HIV prevention and care continuum, with significant work in sub-Saharan Africa addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly orphaned and street-connected children. Braitstein's impactful projects include her role as the Principal Investigator in numerous NIH-funded studies that evaluate care environments affecting children's health. Her academic contributions are bolstered by extensive publications in peer-reviewed journals in topics spanning observational epidemiology, population health, and social determinants of health. She has been awarded prestigious titles, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Chair in Applied Public Health.
