Biography

Paula Gonzalez-Figueroa is a Research Fellow in the Clinical Hub for Interventional Research (CHOIR) at the College of Health and Medicine at the Australian National University. She obtained her PhD in Medical Sciences from the Australian National University, specializing in Immunology and holds a BSc in Biotechnology and Biomedical Science. Her postdoctoral research was conducted at the John Curtin School of Medical Research, ANU, and the Francis Crick Institute in the UK, focusing on the regulation of B cell responses by follicular regulatory T cells (Tfr), with a particular emphasis on the role of Tfr-derived neuritin in controlling pathogenic antibodies. Her discoveries in fundamental B cell and T cell biology have led to the ongoing development of neuritin-based biotherapeutics for allergy and autoimmune diseases. As a fellow in CHOIR, she has expanded her translational research interests to include clinical trial development and is currently leading the design of a preclinical and Phase I clinical program targeting hematological cancers.
