Biography

Paula Hollstein Barria is a Teaching Fellow in the School of Law at the University of Warwick. Her doctoral research developed a phenomenological psycho-social account from the perspective of domestic abuse victim-survivors, utilizing personal narratives and autoethnographic methods. Paula's academic work examines the intersections of law with themes of abuse, gender and class, intimacy, personal narratives, psychoanalysis, and trauma. She holds an LLB from the University of Chile, an MSc in Philosophy from the London School of Economics, and an LLM in Human Rights from University College London. Over her career, Paula has taught on various subjects including Gender & Law and Human Rights in Latin America and the Caribbean. She has presented her research at numerous conferences, highlighting issues of gender inequality and abuse, and contributed to discussions on decolonial lessons in law reform.
