Biography

Paula Therese Jops is a Research Fellow in the Asia Pacific Health Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney. With a cross-disciplinary background in anthropology, development studies, and public health, she has worked on various projects addressing tuberculosis, HIV, cervical screening, and issues related to refugees and forced migration, as well as sexual and gender-based violence. Paula has conducted research in both local and international contexts, including India, Thailand, and Papua New Guinea. Currently, she is involved in NHMRC-funded projects focused on understanding the socio-cultural dimensions of tuberculosis in Papua New Guinea and supporting equitable access to HPV testing for cervical cancer screening in Australia. Her work aims to optimize public health solutions by considering the specific needs and inputs of affected populations.
