Biography

Paula Stoica studied Art History and Media Studies in Tübingen from 2012 to 2016, followed by a degree in Art History and Image Theory in Basel, which she completed in 2020 with a thesis on the work of Berlin artist Agnes Meyer-Brandis titled 'With Geese to the Moon: On the Relationship between Fact and Fiction in Agnes Meyer-Brandis' Moon Goose Colony'. From October 2021 to August 2022, she worked as a research assistant focusing on Conceptual Art at documenta Institute in Kassel. Since August 2022, she has been an assistant in Art Theory at the Art History Seminar of the University of Basel and since November 2022, she has been a research assistant in the third-party funded project 'Women Making Conceptual Art: Subjectivation and Gender Politics of Conceptual Art around 1970' in the field of Art and Knowledge at the University of Kassel, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art. Her current dissertation project centers around the artistic production of Hanne Darboven, particularly her related works from 1975-1985, offering an interpretation of Darboven's artistic practice as self-design and reflection in the context of late capitalist society.
