Biography

Paulette Clancy is the Edward J. Schaefer Professor at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, known for her expertise in computational materials processing. She leads significant research groups in the study of atomic and molecular-scale modeling of semiconductor materials, investigating both traditional silicon-based compounds and all-organic materials. Clancy directs the JHU Data Science AI initiative and serves as the associate director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Integrated Structure-Mechanical Modeling and Simulation. Her research encompasses four key areas: advanced organic materials, algorithm development including machine learning and Bayesian optimization, electronic materials, and nucleation and crystal growth. Clancy is also a passionate advocate for increasing the representation of women in engineering and physical sciences. Her leadership roles have included founding chair of Women in Science and Engineering at Cornell University. She has received several awards, including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' National Women’s Initiatives Mentoring Award and the Alice Cook Award for her services promoting women in science.
