Dr. Paulina García Del Moral

Biography

Paulina García-Del Moral is an Assistant Professor in the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences at the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on the intersection of law, gender, and power within transnational processes, examining the impact of transnational feminist activism and state responses to gender-based violence, particularly in the context of Mexico, Latin America, Canada, and Europe. She investigates how decisions by supranational human rights institutions and state policies on gender violence and reproductive rights shape national politics and notions of belonging. Her work contributes to a transnational sociological understanding of the social construction of legal problems and the implications of social and legal-political contexts. Utilizing an intersectional perspective, Dr. García-Del Moral bridges socio-legal studies and political sociology to analyze the gendered and racialized dynamics underlying these transnational processes.
