Pauline researches and teaches in the area of gender politics. She is the co-author of 'Politics That Women Mattered: Political Analysis National Action Committee Status Women' (1993) and editor of a 2004 collection on gender and public policy, which was published in Ukrainian. Her current research involves a multi-disciplinary initiative at Carleton University focusing on Gender Equality Measurement, which examines the 'measurement turn' in public policy and the implications for feminist activism, particularly how equality is quantified. Pauline served as the Director of the Feminist Institute of Social Transformation from 2000 to 2005 and as the Director of the School of Canadian Studies from 2005 to 2007. She was also the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Affairs and has held the position of Acting Director of the School of Canadian Studies.
