Dr. Pauline Strong

Biography

Pauline Strong is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also serves as the Director of the Native American Indigenous Studies Program. She offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in Native American Studies and focuses on various aspects of cultural representation and identity. Dr. Strong has conducted extensive research on the representation of Native American cultures in literature, film, and public discourse. Her work addresses the intersection of youth organizations, climate justice, and higher education politics. She has authored several books and numerous articles that explore themes in cultural anthropology, feminist anthropology, and indigenous studies. Dr. Strong has held various leadership positions, including serving as the Past President of the American Association of University Professors at UT Austin and as President of the Difficult Dialogues National Resource Center. She is actively involved in community service, including leadership roles in organizations that support youth and cultural education. Dr. Strong has a Ph.D. in sociocultural anthropology from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Colorado College.
