Biography

Paulo M. Camargo is a Full Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the UCLA School of Dentistry and serves as the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs. He earned his dental degree from the University of Paraná, Brazil in 1984 and completed a certificate in Periodontics at UCLA in 1990, an M.S. in Oral Biology in 1991, and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Business Management in 2007. Dr. Camargo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. Having practiced periodontics in the Los Angeles area for four years, he transitioned to academia and has made significant contributions through research and teaching. His research focuses on periodontal bone regeneration and peri-implantitis, leading to more than 80 publications and extensive presentations worldwide. He has received numerous awards for outstanding teaching and mentorship, including the Tarrson Endowed Chair in Periodontics and dedication recognition for his contributions to pre-doctoral education. Dr. Camargo is actively involved in several professional organizations related to periodontology and dental education.
