Biography

Paulo Ceppi is an Associate Professor of Climate Science in the Department of Physics at Imperial College London. His expertise lies in understanding global climate variability and change. In July 2023, he was awarded a five-year European Research Council Starting Grant, valued at €1.5 million, to develop a theoretical framework that describes and quantifies the impact of clouds on global climate and its variations over time. Prior to his current position, he held an Imperial College Research Fellowship which provided four years of independent research funding. In 2024, Paulo was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize in Physics, worth £100,000 for research funding. Additionally, he contributed to Greta Thunberg's Climate Book and has had his past research covered by international media outlets including the Washington Post, Scientific American, and Carbon Brief.
