Paulo Gonçalves is a Professor of System Dynamics Management at the Università della Svizzera italiana. He is also the Director of the Humanitarian Operations Group. Previously, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School and a Research Affiliate at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research is centered on System Dynamics, Simulation, Behavioral Experiments, and Econometrics, focusing on how managers make decisions in humanitarian contexts. Gonçalves earned his Ph.D. in System Dynamics Management Science from MIT Sloan and holds a Master's degree from MIT. Before joining USI, he held positions at MIT Sloan School of Management and the University of Miami Graduate School of Business. He has also worked with Intel’s Strategic Capacity group, earning the Intel Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Award in 2003-2004. His doctoral dissertation received the 2004 Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). His areas of expertise include Behavioral Operations, Humanitarian Operations Management, Sustainability, and Systems Dynamics.
