Biography

Naumov graduated summa cum laude from Lomonosov Moscow State University, specializing in Mathematics with a concentration in Mathematical Logic. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science (with a minor in Mathematics) from Cornell University, with a specialization in logic and automated theorem proving. Since joining the University of Southampton, Naumov has taught at various institutions in the United States and now advises PhD students, including Qi Shi. He leads a research group focusing on new areas such as Responsible Mechanism Design, integrating concepts from science, philosophy, and law to understand how groups of people and machines share responsibility and make decisions collectively. His work investigates how social rules, knowledge, and beliefs influence accountability in decision-making processes, aiming to ensure that responsibility remains fair, clear, and traceable. Naumov collaborates with colleagues and students globally, from California to China, contributing to the development of this exciting field.
