Dr. Pavel Tsvetkov

Biography

Pavel V. Tsvetkov is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University and the Director of the Graduate Program. He holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University, conferred in 2002, and a Master’s degree in Theoretical and Experimental Reactor Physics from Moscow State Engineering Physics Institute, obtained in 1995. His teaching and research focus on systematic approaches and optimization methods in complex engineered systems, particularly in the context of nuclear energy. He is actively engaged in projects pertaining to system design, sustainable nuclear energy solutions, waste minimization, and the development of high-temperature gas reactors (HTGRs) for cogeneration and direct nuclear energy conversion. His contributions to the field are recognized by multiple awards including the George Armistead, Jr ’23 Faculty Excellence Teaching Award. Tsvetkov’s work not only advances theoretical knowledge but also emphasizes practical applications in sustainable energy solutions.
