Professor Dr. Pavel Winternitz

Biography

Pavel Winternitz is a professor at the Université de Montréal in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. His research interests lie in mathematical physics, especially the study of symmetry and non-linear phenomena. He has worked extensively on applications of Lie group theory to the study of difference equations, exact solutions of non-linear differential equations, and the classification of Lie algebras. Throughout his career, he has supervised numerous graduate students, contributing to their dissertations on various topics within the realm of mathematical physics. His commitment to research and education manifests in his projects, including group theory and non-linear phenomena in physics, supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of integrable and superintegrable systems in both classical and quantum physics.
