Biography

Pavlos Aleiferis is a Professor and Head of the Thermofluids Research Division in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. He acquired a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a Master of Science in Thermal Power Fluids Engineering from the University of Manchester. His dissertation focused on turbulence modeling. Following his studies, Pavlos completed a PhD at Imperial College and pursued postdoctoral research involving optical measurement techniques and numerical simulations within turbulent multiphase flows, collaborating with Honda R&D in Japan. Prior to his current role, he was a Lecturer at University College London, where he was promoted to Reader in 2011 and later became a Professor in Thermofluids in 2015. He established the Jaguar Land Rover Centre of Excellence in engine flows and has conducted research in fluid mechanics with applications for advanced zero/low-carbon energy propulsion systems and sustainable power generation. His research includes experimental Laser-based optical diagnostics and validated numerical modeling. He has served on editorial boards for notable journals and has received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the field.
