Biography

Pedram Baldari is an interdisciplinary artist, architect, and scholar working in social practice, installation, sound installation, video, performance, sculpture, and public art. His research focuses on exploring themes from an indigenous-native-stateless lens versus citizenship, state, and property, including modes of colonialism, displacement, immigration, and conflict. His work actively seeks to facilitate and envision realities that transform and repurpose the means, tools, and modes of cultural expression amidst violence. Recently, he has engaged in a land art project, 'The Heart of a Mountain,' in Rojhelat (Eastern) Kurdistan, focusing on Kurdish stewardship of the environment and the high-altitude mountains that have served as refuge during ethnic cleansing campaigns in the 1980s. Baldari's work has been featured in national and international art venues and biennials, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Documenta, Art Basel, and numerous galleries worldwide. He has received various awards and fellowships, including the National Endowment for the Arts Award and the Berlin BBA International Artist Prize.
